What do you think could have been improved in TP?

What do you think could have been improved in TP?
We all (generally) agree that Twilight Princess was a good, if not great, game. But what do you think could have been better?

Better storyline pacing, unrushed ending, more Ganon, and a more difficult game, for me.

Seriously, I thought TP was supposed to be for the hardcore Zelda fans, the hardest 3D Zelda yet, with a dark plot and "more than you could ever imagine" with Ganon? Instead we got an easy game (easier than TWW, in my opinion) with a storyline that dragged at points, a beginning that got repetitive, an ending that seemed rushed, and less Ganon than we had in either OoT or TWW. I personally feel that Ganon was much more fleshed out in TWW than in TP.

But I still loved it, even with all the disappointments. Go figure.

Wii Version:

- NO GRAPHICS FLIP!!!
- Improved graphics (They were good, but could'vebeen a tad bit better... Not by much, though)
- Downloadable items/maps/difficulties (It would've been awesome if you could have used the Biggoron Sword, or visited the Tower of the Gods)
- Online multiplayer
- Normal multiplayer

Signature coming soon, lol.

RE: What do you think could have been improved in TP?
I'm not sure how I feel about Ganon. I think Nintendo should give him a rest and explore new ground for a while. Not that I never want to see him again (he's my favourite character). Maybe if they actually fleshed him a bit in TP I would've liked him there, but I just got a "Hey! I'm Ganon and I'm evil darnit!" vibe.

I know that the general Zelda formula is to use whatever item you find in a dungeon in that dungeon and on the boss, but man...did it ever overuse that idea. You use a variety of items in the dungeons in the other games. And, I still say MM had the best dungeon design of the 3D Zeldas (not counting PH as 3D since it's overhead-view).

The story could've been tweaked. But...eh...that's Zelda. Story comes last. General Zelda development goes:

"Kay, we need to make a new game. Any one have any clever ideas?"
"Let's make Link a wolf, let's give him a boat, let's make him travel through time."
"Sounds good, let's make a game out of it"
"Kay...this has to be released soon. Let's see what kind of dungeons do we have here? Hmm.... I'm going to turn to our ultra-secret timeline document, pull a random unused story from it. And adapt to fit what we made. Story might be weak, but its the game that's important."

That is not an exaggeration.

I would've liked to see a trading-sequence. More towns! @___@ Why does AoL have the most towns in the series? That was almost 20 years ago!

Less fanservice to OoT. Link should've died and Zelda should've fought.

The way the thing was marketed was just misleading. All those trailers had a LotR war epic feel to them. We were promised great things for Ganon. Uhh...a lookout where you can see all of Hyrule. A possible love-story between Link and Zelda. An overall darker and more mature/hardcore Zelda game.

Miyamoto once said that it is more important to render a character with four fingers as its easier to show four fingers holding a glass than five fingers. Realism takes a backseat to practicality and the atmosphere of the game. If one thing is out of place in a realistic looking game the whole experience is ruined.

Well...the game just didn't work for me. The look was suggesting one thing, while characters and mini-games suggested another. Didn't mesh well.

*I didn't like the plot at all.
*Link had a semblance that verged on stupidity over his face all the time-- sorry, I didn't like that incarnation.
*Midna is the most bizarre character I've met
*Twili? What the heck?
*What happened to good ol' mellow Gorons? This time I'd rather call them Morons...
*I'd rather have Temple of Time much older-fashioned
*I hate those chicken things from the sky, they were corny
*The game was horribly easy
*"Let's leave craters on the timeline!"

RE: What do you think could have been improved in TP?
Well, I think we could have done with better cameras. I hated having to stand there and wait for an hour so that my camera angle would be facing towards the enemy. Also, the bugs are extremely annoying, I think they should have replaced those with something a little less... noisy.

Next up, I agree with the Voice Acting, they lacked it, just like all the other Zelda Games, it wasn't there.

I thought Zelda and Link should have gotten it on in that game, it might have just been me but I think they should have... >_>

RE: What do you think could have been improved in TP?
1) Improved graphics (Wii version, of course.) (If you ask me, they were just ifne. However, ppl keep complaining about them. >.<Wink

2) Downloadable content for the future

3) More towns

4) More weapons/items

5) Locations pulled directly from OoT (Well, except the graphics. Those'd DEFINATELY need to be upgraded.)

Signature coming soon, lol.

RE: What do you think could have been improved in TP?
I haven't beat the game (but saw the ending) so bear with me here.

~ Over all being harder
I wish the game was harder, I mean it was a step above of TWW (that game was beaten in like 6 or 7 days... It could have gotten done far far quicker if I didn't have a file running, and Jeff didn't have a file running. Both of us were pretty much close to the end on both of our files when TWW was beat), but it was nothing like OoT.

~ More dungeons
I wish TP had more dungeons. Sure, it had a good many, but I just wish it had more. To me, the more dungeons the better (and don't say something like 100 XD).

~ Voice acting
I know, I know, I was one of the people who complained about people complaining about TP with no voice acting... But now that I look back on it, what's it hurting for voice acting in the game (as in everyone else but Link doing the talking, Link should never talk). Even characters on SMG do a little (and I mean a little) talking, and here LoZ is still running off of pure text.

~ Wii ver mirrored
I don't care what you say... Nintendo got lazy with the Wii ver of TP. It's backwards... I mean come on. I want to go here but oh way it's on the other side of the world then what I had in OoT. All the signs are backwards, and so on. They could have taken the time to change the Wii ver so it'd have the sword in Link's right hand yet not have the whole world backwards.

TP is a great game, and I still hate the GS score of it. But this game was going to be the one to top OoT, the "OoT killer" if you have it. But the game is now lower rated then TWW on GameRankings. The game could have been so much more, they look years and years to put TP out there, they should have used them years to make the game better.

RE: What do you think could have been improved in TP?
@Andy: Personally, it'd be fun to try play with the left hand. That would increase the difficulty at least. =P No need to mirror the world.

Anyway, I haven't completed the game (I have a Pokémon team to train, come on! XD) but the game has been easy so far. The funniest part I've played is when you escort the Zora Prince and you have to kill the birds with the bombs and the guys with fire arrows at the same time.

Voice acting, I'm not sure if Zelda is that kind of game, though, and the main character doesn't even talk so it's not that necessary.
