Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
Quote:With this update, Parental Controls have been enhanced, USB keyboard support is available for the Mii Channel, and system functions have been improved. Quote:We may without notifying you, download updates, patches, upgrades and similar software to your Wii Console and may disable unauthorized or illegal software placed on your Wii Console to ensure that your Wii Console is operating properly and efficiently, comply with applicable laws, assist law enforcement, protect us and our customers, or prevent the use and distribution of software obtained through improper channels.Source Oh my god. =O The update itself is pretty nice but the auto-updates just kills it. Damn this sucks. I posted this exact thread at PC too but... meh. |

RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
I will see how can Nintendo send their little update through my unplugged router and Wii.
Or...I'd rather stick to 3.2U, it's not like I will be missing much anyway. ![]() |

RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
So is this Nintendo's way of getting people to stop downloading Smash 64 and other VC games not released?
Definition: 'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope. Statement: This definition, I am told, is subject to interpretation. Obviously, love is a matter of odds. Not many meatbags could make such a shot, and fewer would derive love from it. Yet for me, love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticle, and together, achieving a singular purpose, against statistically long odds. |

If they have your Wii they're probably uploading the update onto it. RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
You could always attempt to downgrade it.
I always have my Wii unplugged after I finish playing it, so I'm safe from update. If new games require later firmware(IOS), you could always extract those required IOS versions and install it without messing with the old IOS versions. ![]() |

RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
Looks like I'm being forced into getting another stupid update... I plan on getting the new Tales of Symphonia game this weekend, before I go see Twilight.
Signature coming soon, lol. |

RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
You're not forced to get it, I don't think. Not until the next major Nintendo game, at least, probably.
I also find the whole "downloading updates without notifying you" to be a bit scary. WiiConnect24 finally being utilized, but for purposes we really don't want? >>

Yeah, they should let us choose if we want our systems to update atomatically since without us knowing that is scary and we should complain to them about the issue My Wii Code 6470 1944 3307 6868 Smash Bros. RE: Wii Updates Policies, Blocks Hacks
Well, seeing as how I don't have Wi-Fi, I don't think I have anything to worry about. xD
Although since I don't have anything on mine that I shouldn't, I think I'll be fine either way. ![]() |
