Nintendo DS 2?
Okay, so we all know that the DS and DS Lite have been an absolutely frikkin' huge success, but how do you think the next DS will be?
Reggie's already confirmed that they're going to take the same path as the Game Boy (aka more models), but which features would you like to have in the next DS?

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
For me, I'm satisfied with the contents they have in the DS already. But Pictochat has been failure for me, need to make it long-distance, if not Global.
Having it Global would be awesome. but that's all I can think of so far. And a quite new, sleek, and comfortable design. » Idiocy and backstab comes in large amounts. |

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
Having it global would require a full-fletched transformation to an IRC-like interface, Derrick. XD

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
It needs better thing.
GBA had 3 versions, I don't see why NDS won't have more. Maybe NDS with Ram built-in...and upgradable, something like that. Or make it Wii-like, with Virtual Console available for handheld titles. (and some channels) Since they won't let us play GB/GBC stuff on NDS, it'd be a good idea. ![]() |

XDI would most certainly purchase a "game," if it would so be called, that allowed me to Pictochat with people via Wi-Fi, or even if I were sitting next to them. The group drawing feature in the Union Room in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is so much fun. To replicate that, and improve on the limited features it offered would be great. I'm not sure how well it would be received though. Anyway, I'm not sure what I'd want to see in a DS. I certainly hope it won't take the route of the PSP and try to be more than it should; I like how it's currently a gaming system and nothing more. :| |

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
I like that idea, and the VC feature is pretty plausible in my opinion.
How about having a Message Board that can interact with the Wii's and then combine both the Wii's and DS's Play Histories?

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
Well you could use the original DS, that's quite as large. ):
But I hope it's just like the DS Lite's size, nothing like the Gameboy Micro. But I'm honestly, even now quite clueless on what else to see in a new DS. » Idiocy and backstab comes in large amounts. |

RE: Nintendo DS 2?
This is what I wrote at the NSider:
Personally, I think something slimmer is in order. With larger screens, two of course, and better graphics. Graphics should DEFINITELY improve, at least to match the PSP, with the next version. It's completely possible. Also, I think the home screen would benefit from having a bit more PDA-like functions. It would make the experience a lot cooler. A 'channel' one would be great, taking a page out from the Wii. That would fit Nintendo's current look too. I suppose the cartridges would not change. Because the DSII would have backwards compatibility with the DS, because of such great sales in Japan, America, and frankly around the world. Nintendo obviously couldn't ignore those people, and would want to continue sales of DS1 games. But the GBA port? Axed. It will save space if they get it out, and now the GBA is pretty outdated, and no longer needed. Will there be a 'Gameboy Evolution' to succeed the Advance? My sources tell me no. It would be too PSP-like, and the GB line carries too much stigma about being for little kids now. The DS has found its market, and succeeded the Gameboy. It's been 6 years now since the GBA was released, and Nintendo has not EVER said there would be a successor to it. WiFi will definitely still come standard, and the DSII should be able to handle an MMORPG at least. Both the graphics, speed, and screens should be up to that. I think Nintendo will also finally drop the friend codes, as its just not the way to do business. Clamshell design is still in though. It protects both screens, and frankly something that didn't close would be WAY too bulky with the DS's uniqueness. Touch screen should be better...it looks a little under what the top screen can do in this generation, at least in my opinion. Both screens should also be capable of running 3D at the same time now. DSII will hit markets in 2009/2010 in my estimation. Probably November of 2009. Earliest would be end of 2008, but I think that Nintendo will continue to milk sales of DS1 with it selling this good. Your turn now. |
