DSi was released today, maybe you guys will be interested in some information I found. XD

* Region-free for original cards
This was tested with The Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, both Japanese and US version and they both boot fine. Future games might have a region-lock though, so watch out.

* Flash carts don't work
Hardly surprising, but flash carts don't work anymore. They will show up on the menu, but it fails to boot.

* Media Player only support AAC file
* A picture taken by DSi has the resolution of 640x480 pixels

It feels like mini-Wii now, with all those gimmicky functions and such.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it unless Pokemon Limited Edition comes out. I just don't see it being worth buying right now when DS Lite works just as fine if not better. Unless you feel the need to collect it, just wait for the next Nintendo handheld to come out.

Let's discuss about this new hardware Nintendo shelled out to latch onto your wallet like a Metroid. XD
Unless something comes out for it that I want, I won't be getting it. It's like my transition from GBA to DS. I can play my GBA games on a DS and there aren't any DS games I want, so if I get one I'll play it. Now there's Pokemon, TWEWY, Final Fantasy remakes, and the possiblity of a new KH game.
I have absolutely no desire to buy it. A shoddy camera, lack of backwards compatibility as well as compatibility with certain DS titles and features (Guitar Hero, Pokemon transferring, etc.), and a steep price tag with minimal upgrades...I'll pass.
I am annoyed by the fact that its battery is short-living.

We can only wait for the next handheld, this one looks too much like a DS micro.
It's seriously more of a downgrade than an upgrade. The missing features far outweigh the new features.

I can't actually call the removal of the GBA slot a serious missing feature. :x

Complain about the battery if you would, too, but the brightest screen setting is actually a lot brighter, apparently, so it's not too easy to compare.
Why wouldn't it be a serious missing feature, Jake? It makes it impossible to play Guitar Hero on the DS or use the browser, it totally removes all backward compatibility, accessories like the Rumble Pack can't be used, and some games are crippled or missing major features (like Pal Park in the Pokemon games). I'd say it's a pretty big missing feature.
The thing is... the DSi doesn't replace the Lite (which replaces the original DS). It's simply an alternative in my opinion. Pick whichever suits you more. When the DSi does come out for the rest of the world, the Lite will still be sold.

Its camera isn't too bad...it's better than my cellphone, at least.

Mine too. Oh wait, I don't have a camera on my cell phone...
