When you first bought Red and Blue, or just any other game if you didn't start with these like me (mine was Silver), you advanced through the story and stuff, met the professor, battled your rival, discovered Team Whatever trying to do some evil thing, got to the league, prepared your team, and saw the Champion was some character you'd met earlier. Not the best storyline in the world, but it's okay for me.

But when you played the second game, didn't you think you'd somehow seen that story somewhere?

Okay, the storyline is not everything (and actually most in-game things suck so it's not important), but don't you think they should start to think about a new story, rather than copying the previous one, and changing the names?

What do you think? Do you think Pokémon needs to stop being so similar from the last game? Do you think it would work? Do you care? Discuss.
It doesn't bother me that much, but yeah, it'd be cool if they changed things around in the next generation of games.
I believe that the Professor always asking you to fetch something for him is getting a little old. Otherwise I believe they're changing it around at least enough so that you can still enjoy a game after playing the previous ones. Of course, they probably look at the fact that they have a good thing going, so it would probably be safer in their position to keep to the basic storyline.
I'd definitely like to see something new and fresh. They just keep regurgitating the same storyline. Mostly because it's a success and keeps things going of course, but I think it'd be nice to try something different. Who knows, maybe we get a new storyline and we all hate it. (But I doubt that) The first three versions, I played over and over and over, but DP I was just... "No, I don't want to play through that again. :|" So sure, I'd like to see a change in some areas, make it a game again. I've basically grown up with this, so something new could... recharge the batteries for me.
I love pokemon but im getting bored of it. The wifi in DP was good but the story line needs to change. I hope it does in next gen pokemon but im not countingon it

*sniffle* Sorry, I've had this strange cold come down ever since I finished Pearl. I literally caught them all and there's no one to brag about it to around here... well... there IS. But one's an idiot, the other lost his game, and the third got bored with it for the same reason you guys just mentioned.

A Pokemon MMO? Kewl, but not gonna happen. T.T
just imagine a WoW sort of game but pokemon instead i would probably give it a go what bout you guys
The Pokemon games that do have a different storyline ( Colosseum, XD, Ranger) are usually worse than the main games in the series. I would very much appreciate a new story in generation five but I guess this is a case of "if it ain't broken, don't fix it."
For different storylines we have spinoffs. Which unfortunatly (<I'll never learn how to spell that) usually aren't very good.
Platinum looks promising, with the whole torn world thingy, and the world getting colder.
